New camera

We've always had point and shoots cameras. I had a EOS SLR camera in high school when I got into photography at summer camp. But without a darkroom, developing photographs lost it's appeal. I found one similar to the one I had before, just a few models up. A Canon Rebel Xsi is what came in the mail a few days ago and it's been glued to my hand ever since.

(the image from the website)

I am in love with the way the pictures come out! I am far from a pro and continue to reference the user's manual to refresh my memory on which aperture speed is best when it's gloomy out, and which ISO to use for nighttime. I'm getting the hang of it though. Ariana is, too. Even if the camera is sitting on the counter with the strap draped over the side she stands in from of it grinning and saying "cheeeeeeeese!"

I don't think I take enough pictures of her.

She sits in my lap happily pointing out the baby as we scroll though the pictures on the digital screen. She recognizes herself in the mirror, but pictures is another story.

I'm used to uploading our pictures and editing them as close to perfection as I could get them. Not with our new camera! I sharpened, then unsharpened. Played with the hues, then restored the original colors. I couldn't find anything to "fix" for the life of me. The pictures I'm snapping are as good as it gets. Ariana is perfectly focused and everything else blurs into the background. Just as it is in real life through my eyes.

Because I know you're wondering it, this is what's all over Ariana's mouth and chin:

Homemade yogurt popsicles. About halfway through her first one (yes that means she had two!) she was chanting "popsa popsa!" and singing my blending and freezing praises. It's organic vanilla yogurt, fresh strawberries, and a couple ice cubes turned to slushy goodness in our Magic Bullet and frozen. Those handy Tupperware popsicle molds were an amazing investment at $3.00 which means we may have to get more! She was hesitant at fist of the cold hard treat, but once she nibbled a bite her eyes lit up and the rest is history!

And just for good measure...

Great pictures! I shoot a Nikon, have had it for two years and STILL refer to the manual....even after 8 weeks of photography classes. There's just so much to know. You're off to a great start!

You've got the eye for sure.
