The Girl Who Cried Wolf

One day a little girl was getting ready to go to bed. She frantically looked around her bedroom for any distraction possible. A thirds bedtime story? A scoot around the room on her car? Another kiss from Daddy? Then suddenly the perfect diversion hit her. She gazed up at her Mama wide eyes and exclaimed

"poo poo!"

while signing potty. her Mama excitedly rushed her across the hall to her bathroom and stripped her down to only her shirt. The little girl sat on her potty smiling. She did it! They waited. And waited. Finally the Mama realized she had been duped and carried her squirming and shrieking toddler back to her bedroom and re-diapered her.

A few nights later the little girl decided bedtime was for babies. She remembered her plan from the night prior so she thought. And she thought. Food! Mama would never deny food! So she gazed up at her Mama, put her thumb and pointer finger to her lips and asked

"eat?"

"Milk?"

Mama offered. No, she needed something she could chew, something to get her out of her dimly lit bedroom with the soothing music. Out to the kitchen they went. Mama offered her a Nutra Grain bar. The little girl shook her head no. A yogurt? The little girl shook her head no again. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted her baby dolls nestled in their double stroller. Jackpot!! Mama had to dash after the little girl and drag her back into the boring calm of her bedroom.

This went on for a weeks. Always the little girl's attempts were thwarted.

Then one night, her head snuggled against the perfect spot on her Mama's chest. She sat up and confidently said

"poo poo!"

"No, ma'am. You're not fooling Mama this time! It's night-night time little girl."

The little girl was determined.

"POO POO!"

"Mama said no, little girl."

She squirmed out of her Mama's lap but stopped running halfway to her bedroom door. She looked back standing very still. Then pushed.

"POOP!"

Her Mama yelled taking the little girl's hand and rushing her to her potty. To her Mama's horror, there- inside her diaper was a sigh every Mama dreads. Diarrhea.

"Oh no, honey! Mama thought you were faking!"

Mama quickly and apologetically cleaned up the little girl's tush just in time for her to sit on her potty and push out more. And more. And more.

The little girl stared at her Mama.

"poo-poo" she whispered as if to say "I tried telling you, Mama."

A few minutes and a lot of wipes later, the little girl was once again snuggled against her Mama drifting off to dreamland.
